Basketball: Buford girls defeat Wesleyan

BUFORD -- In a match-up of No. 1 teams, Class AA won out.

The Buford girls basketball team -- No. 1 in Class AA -- defeated Wesleyan -- No. 1 in Class A -- 76-57 on Saturday night in Buford.

Andraya Carter racked up 20 points to lead the Lady Wolves (18-1, 9-0 Region 6-AA). Blanche Alverson also added 18.

The outcome was sweet revenge for Buford, which fell to Wesleyan four times last season when the two school were in the same class and region -- 6-AA. Wesleyan, which won a state title last year, moved down classifications before this season.

Buford will play host to Blessed Trinity at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
