SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say a cyclist who was struck and killed trying to cross Truman Parkway was a robbery suspect.

Police say the victim, whose name was not immediately known, is accused of robbing a Family Dollar store at gunpoint around 8 p.m. Saturday. Ten minutes later, he was struck by three vehicles as he fled.

Police spokeswoman Judy Pal says the man wore all black clothing, black gloves and black sunglasses. Pal says he just ``came out of nowhere'' and there's no way the motorists could see the bicycle.

The crash debris extended along the parkway for at least 150 feet.

Pal says police recovered two firearms.
