Hall Co. woman wins lawsuit against ex-fiance
GAINESVILLE - A Hall County jury has awarded a woman $150,000 after she sued her former fiance for calling off their wedding.

RoseMary Shell said she left a high-paying job in Florida to be with her ex-fiance, Wayne Gibbs, and she said she has suffered emotionally since their breakup.

"This has been the most difficult thing I've ever had to do and I think justice has been served," Shell said.

Gibbs testified that he paid $30,000 of Shell's debt while they were engaged, then canceled the wedding after finding out she had even more debt.

Juror Delitha Smith told Channel 2 Action News that she didn't agree with the outcome, but gave in to the other jurors.

"He paid her a bundle, along with the engagement ring that was really worth a lot of money," Smith said.
