NE Ga. drought now classified as 'severe'

GAINESVILLE - The drought is still with us, but conditions continue to improve.
The dry conditions in our area are now classified as "severe," a significant improvement over just a few months ago.
About a third of the state falls into that category.
The driest places in northeast Georgia, according to the latest information from the U.S. Drought Monitor, are Stephens, Hart and Elbert counties, and a portion of Banks.
