GAINESVILLE – Another case of rabies has been confirmed in Hall County - the 20th since the first of the year.

On Tuesday contact was reported between a raccoon and a cat. The incident occurred in the Lula Road area of East Hall.

The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur. The results came back to Gainesville-Hall County Animal Control on Thursday that the raccoon tested positive for rabies.

Gainesville-Hall Animal Control is advising all residents in the area, as well as throughout rural Hall County, to be on the lookout for abnormal animal behavior. If any suspicious activity is noticed they are advised to call animal control at 770-531-6830 or, during non-working hours, call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.

County residents owning pets that are not current on rabies vaccinations are urged to take their pets to a veterinarian office immediately for vaccinations.
