ATLANTA - Hall and 15 other north Georgia counties are likely to need 55 percent more water between now and 2035.

That's according to a projection - assuming a population of 7.6 million - given by the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Thursday.

The numbers also allow for serious conservation efforts and low-flow plumbing fixtures are commonplace, which could hold consumption to about 865 million gallons a day, which is about what it is today.

A worse-case scenario puts daily consumption at more than 1 billion gallons a day.
