FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Flowery Branch and Lakeview Academy boys and Gainesville girls basketball teams all will be staying at home when the second round of the state playoffs begin Tuesday.
Flowery Branch, the top seed from Region 7-AAA and ranked eighth, will play host to Sandy Creek Tuesday in the Class AAA tournament. Tip-off was tentatively set for 7 p.m. The Falcons knocked off Southside Friday night to win their first-ever state playoff game.
In other Class AAA boys action in northeast Georgia, No. 5 Blessed Trinity will travel to Hart County while No. 6 Franklin County will hit the road at No. 3 Dunwoody.
In the Class AAA girls tournament No. 7 Gainesville will play host to No. 6 Sandy Creek Wednesday. No time has been set yet for tip-off. The Lady Elephants routed Southside in the first round.
Defending state champion and tenth-ranked East Hall will travel to No. 4 Franklin County Wednesday in a rematch of last year's state title game. East Hall knocked off Dunwoody in the first round.
In the Class A boys tournament, Lakeview Academy, also coming off its first-ever state playoff win, will play host to No. 2 Whitefield Academy. Tip-off time has yet to be determined. The Lions beat Bremen in the first round to advance.
In the Class A girls playoffs, Towns County will travel to Monticello.
In the Class AA girls tournament, No. 4 Buford will travel to Rutland Wednesday while No. 1 Greater Atlanta Christian will play host to Coosa and No. 2 Wesleyan will travel to Model.
