FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch has the green light to move ahead with wastewater treatment expansion plans.

The news came Wednesday from Fox Environmental consultant Catherine Fox, who said the city showed EPD Tuesday that it meets state requirements for wastewater, drinking water and storm water programs.

"The significance is that we showed it, we proved it with documentation," Fox said.

Fox added the EPD check list is 40 pages long but by meeting it Flowery Branch avoids fines and lack of permits to support growth and development.

According to Fox those regulations and water use plans were developed by the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District, which includes Hall County.

"So they are self imposed," Fox said. "What it means to Flowery Branch is that they need to be involved in the planning process which is happening right now."
