ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Mike Beatty announced Friday the designation of Braselton as the state’s eighth WaterFirst Community.
This designation officially recognizes Braselton’s commitment to excellence in water resource management and stewardship. The community was formally recognized in a ceremony at Braselton City Hall.
“Careful management of our water resources requires a strong commitment to stewardship and solid leadership. In keeping with the town motto, Braselton leaders eagerly embraced their collective responsibility to preserve the past and mold the future. In planning for the future of one of the state’s fastest growing communities, Braselton leaders
deserve special recognition for their strong public involvement and youth education programs, ability to work with other local government partners and strong management practices." said Commissioner Beatty.
The WaterFirst Community Program, led by the Department of Community Affairs, is a voluntary partnership between local governments, state and federal agencies and other organizations working to improve the management and protection of our shared water resources.
