Alton Ford Kemp, age 79 of Gillsville, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at New Horizons Lanier Park following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 3:00 pm at White Hall Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Church on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:30 pm till 3:00 pm, prior to the service. Reverend Chris Segars, Reverend Grayson Segars, Reverend Dub Jenkins and Reverend Caleb Ryals will officiate. Reverend Dwayne Ryals will be the minister of music for the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Kemp was born April 10, 1933 in Murrayville, Georgia to the late Homer Kemp and Florence Kitchens Kemp. He was retired from Slack Auto Parts and was a member of White Hall Baptist Church. A special thanks to the Northeast Georgia Hospice Care for all their care of our husband and father.
Mr. Kemp is survived by his wife, Wanda Dale Kemp of Gillsville, daughter and son-in-law, Melody and David Strange of Cornelia, grandchildren, Kyle Strange and Kaley Strange, sisters, Emma Wehunt of Gainesville and Nell Cantrell of Gainesville, sister-in-law, Betty Ann Martin of Gainesville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Sherrie Dale of Gainesville, sisters-in-laws, Barbara Dale of Gillsville and Elizabeth Kemp of Gainesville.
Flowers are accepted, but those who wish may make contributions to White Hall Baptist Church, 5332 White Hall Road, Lula, GA 30554.
