Bobbie Joan Barrett Moore, age 80 of Gainesville and Lula, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Landmark Hospital, Athens, Georgia following an extended illness. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Old Lula Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Drewery Loggins will officiate.
Mrs. Moore was born August 14, 1932 in Homer, Georgia. Mrs. Moore is the daughter of the late Ernest Vasco Barrett and Tracy Jones Barrett of Lula. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Thomas Clyde Moore and her infant brother, Jonny Vasco Barrett.
She is survived by her children, Tom Moore of Lula, Jerry & Colleen Moore of Marietta, Lynn & Jim French of Colorado and Tina Piercy of Loganville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris Moore and Bob Moore of New Hampshire, Terry Moore of Lula, Jake Moore, Ellie Moore and Maggie Moore, all of Marietta, Chip Piercy of Loganville and Chad Matthews & Elizabeth Papanikolas of Cumming, several great grandchildren, her brother & his wife, Michael Barrett & Patsy Bailey of Flowery Branch, as well as a long line of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Moore worked alongside her husband, Clyde, for many years as owner-operators of the M&M Cafeteria, the Shawnee Drive-Ins, M&M Travel Trailer Sales, all in Gainesville. She later worked as office manager and bookkeeper for Gainesville Equipment Company & Cantrell Machine, from where she retired after 18 years.
In accordance with Bobbie’s wishes, the family requests no flowers.
