Katherine Sperring Strahan English, age 96, of Clarkesville, Georgia, and formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday,
December 3, 2012.
Mrs. English was born on April 6, 1916, in Adairsville, Georgia; daughter of the late William and Minnie O’Hearn Sperring. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Strahan and sons, Nelson Strahan and Walter Strahan. Mrs. English was the widow of
Charles English. She was a member of the Loyal Order Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Grand Matron. Mrs. English was a member of
Clarkesville Baptist Church, Daughters of the Nile, and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Strahan and William W. Hall, Port Jefferson, NY; daughter-in-law, Alesandra G.
Hall, Northport, NY; grandchildren, Lorinda Crane, William S. Hall, and John C. Hall; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, and Drew; and two nieces, Marie and Margaret, both of Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the funeral home.
