Emory Broome, Jr. of Flowery Branch, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Willow Wood Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Brian Malcom and Reverend Robert Kersh will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Broome was born December 24, 1922 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Emory Broome, Sr. and Nezzie Yarborough Broome. He served in the U. S. Army and was retired from Chicopee Textile Mill. Emory was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Ethel Sutton Broome, his son, Mitchell J. Broome, his brothers, Mark Broome, Elmer Broome, Jerry Broome, Benny Broome and Walter Broome, his sisters, Katie Broome Cochran and Bessie Broome Newberry.
Mr. Broome is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Hayward & Bonnie Broome of Gainesville, daughters, Glenda Broome Couch of Flowery Branch and Brenda A. Broome of Cleveland, brothers & sisters-in-law, J. C. & Mary Broome of Danielsville, Georgia and Luther & Anna Broome of Murrayville, sisters, Louise Broome Maldonado and Lila Broome Gaines, both of Gainesville, sister & brother-in-law, Martha & Alvin Loggins of Gainesville, grandchildren, Jerry Couch, Teri Couch, Alan (Angie) Broome, Chris Broome and Craig (Pam) Broome and great-grandchildren, Devon Couch, Annabelle Broome, Ansley Broome and Caleb Broome.
