Otha M. Shannon, age 91, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Monday,
August 13, 2012.

Mr. Shannon was born on January 14, 1921, in Homer, Georgia; son of the late Melvin Fletcher and Mary Gillespie Shannon. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. Mr. Shannon was a United States Navy Veteran having proudly served his country during World War II. He served in the Pacific on the USS Winged Arrow (AP – 170). Mr. Shannon was a life member of the Grant Reeves Post # 7720. He was a retired construction superintendent for J.M. Beason Company with 15 years of service.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Selma G. Shannon, Alto, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Claudia Shannon, Marietta, GA
and Tony and Paula Shannon, Lilburn, GA; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Christopher and Emily Shannon, Demorest, GA; grandson, Sean Shannon, Marietta, GA; sister, Louise Shannon, Homer, GA; and brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Catheryn Shannon, College Park, GA.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Jay
Hughes officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

The family is receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
