Mr. John W. “J.W.” Thomas age 93 of Gainesville passed away Saturday June 23, 2012 at the New Horizon West Nursing Home.

Mr. Thomas was born June 14, 1919 in Gainesville to the late Luther H. & Mary Fields Thomas. He was a graduate from Brookton High School, and was retired from Sears where he was an assistant manager. Mr. Thomas was a member of Free Chapel Worship Center, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lou Thomas, daughter, Mary Moose, grandson, Tim Moose, son in law, Bill Moose, & 2 brothers, and 2nd wife Margie Jones Thomas

Survivors include, sons & daughters in law, Rev. Dewayne & Paulette Thomas of Fairburn, GA, Dewey & Elaine Thomas of Gainesville, Richard & Sarah Thomas of Gainesville, step children Tommy & Betty Justin of Dahlonega, and Daniel & Carol Jones of Huntsville AL., sisters & brothers in law, Mary & Clifford Barlowe of Gainesville, Barbara & James Angly of Gainesville, brother, Amon Thomas of Gainesville, sister in law, Lilly Thomas of Gainesville. 13 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Free Chapel Worship Center with Rev. Jentzeen Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-9 Monday June 25, 2012 at the Memorial Park Funeral Home.
