Robert Merriel Browning, age 79 of Lula, passed away on Wednesday Morning, June 13, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in White Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Grady White and Reverend Royce Winters will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2012 all day and Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Browning was born September 4, 1932 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Roy P. Browning and Jeanetta Smith Browning. He was employed with Hall County Fire Services from 1962 till 1979 then later retired from the City of Gainesville, Water Department. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one of his sisters, Deloras Anderson and brother-in-law, Alvin Shirley.


Mr. Browning is survived by his wife, Nancy Browning of Lula, daughters, Renae Stephens of Lula, Amanda (Daniel) Hill of Danielsville, Georgia and Jennifer Nash of Richmond, Virginia, sons, Robby (Dana) Browning of Commerce, Michael Roper of Lula and Randy Morrow of Clermont, sisters, Lavonia Shirley of Pensacola, Florida, Glenna Hatfield of Tampa, Florida, Wanda (David) Reed of Gilbert, Arizona, Janice (Raymond) Kinney of Pensacola, Florida and Dinah (Dennis) Lynch of Covington, Georgia, brother, Phil Browning of Baldwin, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, aunt, Cora Lee Wilson of Gainesville and special friends, Jim & Carol Lancaster of Gainesville.
