Ruby Robinson Elrod, 81

Mrs. Ruby Robinson Elrod, age 81, of Gainesville formerly of St. Simons, passed away Sunday, March 23rd at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lanier Park Campus following an extended illness.

Mrs. Elrod was born July 18, 1926 in Hall County to the late Hokie C. Robinson & Mattie White Robinson. In 1960 she moved to St. Simons before moving back to Gainesville. She was a florist for Cloister Flower Shop, she loved flowers and was an avid gardener, she also enjoyed making Crafts and loved craft shows and was a basket weaver making over 1800 baskets.

Mrs. Elrod is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Alvin Elrod; parents, Hokie C. & Mattie Robinson; brother, Harold Robinson; and her sister, Betty J. Robinson.

Mrs. Elrod is survived by son & daughter-in-law, Teddy & Carolyn Elrod of Waynesville GA; daughter & son-in-law, Joyce & J.H. Butterworth of Gainesville, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Hoyt & Mary Robinson of Dahlonega, GA; sister Lois Conner of Gainesville, GA; sister-in-laws Shirley Robinson of St. Simons, GA; Evelyn Elrod of Clarksville, GA; Inez Bennett of Gainesville, GA; granddaughter, Jamie Butterworth of Gainesville, GA; grandson and wife, Ted & Cricket Elrod of Brunswick GA; two great-granddaughters, Emma Kate & Mattie Claire Elrod of Brunswick Ga; and special friends, Betty Thompson & Joyce Reed both of Gainesville, GA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Pirkle will officiate.

Interment will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25th at Ward’s Funeral Home.
