Mr. Carl E. Blackwell, age 86, of Dahlonega, Ga., died Thursday March 06, 2008 at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, GA.

Mr. Blackwell was born Dec. 05, 1921 and had lived most of his life in Lumpkin County. He was a retired saw miller and farmer and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Mr. Blackwell was the son of the late Leo and Dollie Bowman Blackwell. He married Margaret Sullens in March of 1938 and when she died in May of 1997 they had been married for over 59 years.

Mr. Blackwell is also preceded in death by son, James Blackwell; brothers, Claude Blackwell, George Blackwell, Robert Blackwell, and Frederick Blackwell; Sister Bertha Sullens; and great-grandson, Trevor Baker.

Mr. Blackwell is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Janice Blackwell, Dahlonega, GA.; daughters, Patsy Blackwell, Dahlonega, GA., and Barbara Zeiber, Calhoun, GA.; sisters, Fannie Grindle and Leona Anderson, both of Dahlonega, GA. Four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Blackwell are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday March 09, 2008 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. with Rev. Phill Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home all day on Saturday starting at 11 AM and again on Sunday until the time of service.
