Union County Schools
Within the last several years, new elementary and middle schools have been built and and
a high school facility has been completely renovated. Also, a vocational annex was added
at the Woody Gap School. Union County school physical plants are some of the most up-to-date
in the area Also, the custodial and maintenance services provided to the schools are outstanding.
In a recent review conducted by the Georgia Department of Education, Facilities Division,
the Union County schools rated or superior and the system over all rating was superior.
Additionally, school facilities are available to community organizations by arrangement
with the principal.
The curriculum for Union County schools is based on the Georgia Quality Core. In the elementary
grades, the emphasis is on basic skills acquisition for each child. In the middle school,
those basic skills are expanded and emphasis is placed upon the transition from childhood
to adolescence, and in the upper grades refinement of skills and subject matter are emphasized.
The high school offers general, college preparatory and vocational diplomas based upon
the course of study the student and their parents choose.
