Towns County is the home of Hiawassee and Young Harris in the northeast corner of Georgia. Summers are cool and winters are serenely beautiful. Opportunities for recreation and sports include hiking on the Appalachian Trail, easily accessible at several points, along with other hiking trails to waterfalls or in the woods. Other activities include golf, water sports, and horseback riding. Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point at 4,784 feet, provides breathtaking views of four states from its observation deck along with a Mountain Top Theater and interactive displays. The Chattahoochee National Forest and parts of four wilderness areas are host to a multitude of flowers and wildlife. Lake Chatuge, a 7500 acre TVA reservoir, is a haven for fishermen, skiers and boaters. Marinas and public boat docks provide easy access to the lake. Rent a boat, a pontoon, a small boat, or even a canoe to help you enjoy the scenic beauty.
