Stephens County Schools
 The Stephens County School
System serves more than 4,100 students system-wide. There are seven schools, four elementary
schools, one middle school, one comprehensive high school and one alternative school. Stephens
County High School was selected as a National School of Excellence in 1987. All schools
are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The curriculum includes everything from increased emphasis on math and science to extracurricular
leadership opportunities; from computer instruction to modern literature and more.
The community plays an important role in the success of local educational efforts. There
are advisory committees, parent-teacher organizations for elementary through high school
level and business partnerships which sponsor tutors, mentoring programs, speakers and
other special incentives and awards.
Toccoa is the home of Toccoa Falls College, an accredited non- denominational four-year
liberal arts Bible College with an annual enrollment of 900+ students.
Truett-McConnell College and North Georgia Tech have a full-time extension center in Toccoa
for Associate Degree programs. North Georgia Technical Institute has a full-time (day and
night) extension center and a Quick Start facility in the same location with Truett-McConnell.
