Stephens County Parks & Recreation
While small in size, Stephens County is large enough in its wealth of opportunities to
overwhelm the most enthusiastic outdoor hobbyist. Along with wild and scenic rivers,
there are waterfalls that amaze the eye and soothe the spirit. Calm lakes, including
Lake Hartwell, offer a variety of refreshing water sports. And, there are national and
state parks with numerous hiking trails that wind through the forests, pungent with the
heady aroma of pine. All of this and there is still a climate moderate enough to allow
the year-round activities of golf, tennis and fishing. Several annual events add to the
outdoor enjoyment throughout the year, including The Toccoa Harvest Festival, A Taste
of Toccoa, and the Toccoa Christmas Parade.
