Stephens County Economic Development

Stephens County is primarily a manufacturing community, and its manufacturing base continues to expand. Industries include furniture, textiles, chemicals, plastics, caskets, metal fabrications, and garments. In the last 30 years, 44 new industries have chosen Toccoa as the ideal community in which to live, work, and prosper. The county's commitment to strong economic growth is a major draw in attracting new businesses and promoting expansion of existing companies. The elected leadership of Toccoa and Stephens County has responded to the stimulus of growth through planning for controlled development and by encouraging public-private partnerships. The most dramatic example of this partnership is the creation of a downtown pedestrian mall, which is a part of the central business district revitalization program.
