Rabun County Schools Rabun County is best known for its
natural beauty, but it's often what we can't see that is most impressive. In this small community, educators create the greatest stir. A solid public school system, Foxfire, and two private boarding schools, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and Tallulah Fall School, all make their home in Rabun County. There is indeed more here than meet the eye, as students expand their horizons through education. Through a variety of student activities, course offerings and approaches to instruction, Rabun County schools nurture the abilities of each student. Enrolling approximately 1,900 students system-wide, Rabun County schools maintain an average student to teacher ratio of 20:1, in two primary schools, one middle school and one high school. Of the total certified faculty, 54% have a Master degree or higher. Or those students who wish to pursue higher education, there are excellent technical institutes and colleges within a 60-mile radius of Clayton. North Georgia Technical Institute is located in Clarksville (29 miles), the Lanier Technical Institute in Gainesville (61 miles), Piedmont College in Demorest (33 miles), Young Harris (38 miles), Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland (43 miles), Western Caroline University in Cullowee, NC (44 miles) and Clemson University in Clemson SC (45 miles). Learning is a lifelong process. Students of all ages are constantly challenged and stimulated by the academic offering of Rabun County.
